Ecotourism
April 2, 2009 by jameslucas.
What is the Ecotourism Phenomenem
Environmental tourism concentrates on local cultures, wilderness excursions, volunteering, personal growth and learning new ways to live on our fragile planet. It is typically understood as travel to places where the flora, fauna, and cultural heritage are the main attractions. Responsible ecotourism includes programs that minimize the damaging effects of standard tourism on the natural environment, and improve the cultural integrity of the local people.
Good Ecotourism Plans Include Accountability
Accountability and transparency in any endeavor make for success, along with solid planning and experienced management. In the case of ecotourism, the right mix of these ingredients can lead to economic development and sustainable growth for local populations. However, the ideas of accountability and transparency are not always easy to get across to those involved in a project, even in the most open democratic society.
Ecotourism Challenging Traditional Luxury Reservation Industry
Ecotourism is the fastest growing sector of the tourism industry. The increase in numbers of tourists will make careful planning a must.
Ecotourism Packages Can Have a Negative Impact
Believe it or not, there is such a thing as bad tourism. Not every outdoor activity is environmentally friendly.
